The first British public broadcast was on the Home Service on Monday 24 November 1958 at 8.30pm . It reached a peak listenership of 800,000 listeners.
The show's first repeat was the following Wednesday at 9.31pm, 26 November 1958, on the Light Programme. It was listened to by 3.0 million. The next repeat was 32 years later, on Monday 2 November 1992 at 11pm on Radio 4.

Originally recorded on TLO 70536 (15 ips ¼" tape recorded at Broadcasting House).
The TLO 70536 master tape no longer exists, so the version of the show found on Compendium 10 was compiled from the TGS master tape and domestic recordings of the original tramsmissions.[1]
