The Lost Year is an episode from The Goon Show. It is the thirteenth (minus specials) show in the sixth series. The show was recorded at 9pm on Sunday 11 December 1955. The recording took place at the Garrick Theatre, located in Charing Cross Road, in the City of Westminster, London.
The first British public broadcast was on the Home Service on Tuesday 13 December 1955 at 8.30pm. It reached a peak listenership of 3.8m.
The show's first repeat was the following Saturday at 7.30pm, 17 December 195S, on the Light Programme. It was listened to by 2.3 million.
BBC Audiobooks Synopsis
The year 1956 is missing! Seagoon just wanted to buy a cheap calendar from Eccles, but all the calendars for that year have gone. Seagoon scours the lingth, length and longth of England. But where can he find 1956! The whole of England is puzzled; so too is Parliament and the Prime Minister. Grytpype-Thynne and Moriarty are also on the trail - especially as there's a cash reward for finding it. But there are problems: what does the lost year look like and where is it?
