Bird lived with concert pianist and teacher Libby Crandon after 1978 and they later married. He had two stepsons from her previous marriage.&amp;lt;ref name=telegraph/&amp;gt; Crandon died in 2012.&amp;lt;ref name = Coveney/&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
